WHAT HAPPENED AT WALL STREET IN OVERNIGHT TRADE:
In Monday’s trade at Wall Street, US stocks mostly ended higher as the Dow notched a new record high while the S&P 500 pulled back from its all-time peak.
Digging deeper, a late-afternoon selling sent two of the three main benchmarks into the red by the close.
Blame the caution to Tuesday`s key inflation update, particularly after recent data has signaled a resilient U.S. economy and lowered expectations for an interest rate cut at the next Fed meeting.
Futures traders are currently pricing in a 16% chance for a quarter-point rate cut in March vs a 52% probability of one in May.
Last week, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq both had notched weekly wins, marking the 14th time out of the past 15 weeks the two indexes closed higher on the week.
# The 10-year US Treasury bond yields last traded towards 4.1754 levels.
